A 24-year-old Fort Dodge man is in the Hamilton County jail after a car chase Friday night that ran through three counties. Samuel Cornell led a Webster City police officer on a pursuit that ended outside of Rockwell City on Highway 20. The chase started after the officer tried to stop the vehicle Cornell was driving after a report of a gas station drive-off at a convenience store in Webster City. A Rockwell City police officer helped end the chase after deploying stop sticks to blow the car’s tires. Cornell faces charges including: theft, eluding, speeding and failure to use headlights.
