Tonight in the class 2A quarterfinals, fourth ranked Solon matches up with number two North Fayette in the UNI-Dome. Solon showed their balanced attack in round one of the playoffs in a 38-19 win over Clarion Goldfield. Quarterback Nick Yordi (senior) threw three first half touchdowns.Solon head coach Kevin Miller says they ask a lot of Yordi, and he says his q-b has a good grasp of what they’re asking. He says runningback Clint Donovan does a lot and so has the line. And speaking of Donovan, he ran for 130 yards include a 52 yard touchdown run in the Spartans win. North Fayette Head Coach Ron Wymer knows that Solon is capable of the big plays. He says the big plays make them very dangerous.North Fayette in round one didn’t need to show their balanced offense as Junior running back Mike Moser totaled 179 yards with three touchdowns in the Hawks 49-26 win over Center Point Urbana. Senior running back Devin Fonley also put two touchdowns on the board along with two touchdowns. Miller says the Hawk offense is very explosive and presents their biggest challenge this season. He says they’ll try to contain them as best they can.
