The holidays often make people think of going home — and now natives of Franklin County have one million more reasons to think about it. The Hampton State Bank is offering one million dollars in low-interest car and home loans for anyone who graduate from one of the county’s three high schools that wants to move back. Bank president Brad Davis estimates there’s around 64-hundred people who might be eligible. He says it seems like a logical target market. He says it doesn’t matter if they’ve just finished college or have been away for a long time. Davis says Franklin County is growing and says the new three-point-six million dollar county wellness center in Hampton is one of the new projects. He says the center has been a dream of the county for years. It has an indoor swimming pool, basketball court and running track. Davis hopes to see the one-million dollars all given away.He says he’d like nothing better to go to the board of directors in a month and ask for another million. Graduates of the Sheffield-Chapin-Merservey-Thorton, Hampton-Dumont and CAL (Coulter, Alexander, Latimer) are eligible for the loans.
