The Iowa Hawkeyes edged seventh ranked Kentucky 67-63 in the semifinals of the Guardian’s Classic in Kansas City. Coach Steve Alford called it a huge win for his team. Alford says, “This is Kentucky, it’s not just another team name.” Alford says they held Kentucky to 32-percent shooting and that’s a great tribute to the team. The Hawkeyes got a big lift from guard Mike Henderson who had 15-points, seven rebounds and four steals. Alford says nobody was more efficient than Henderson of all the guards on the floor. Iowa plays second ranked Texas in tonight’s championship game. The Longhorns edged West Virginia 76-75. Alford says Texas is big, long and athletic.
