Lawyers for a western Iowa man facing federal child pornography and sexual exploitation charges have been granted another continuance in the case. A federal judge has agreed to delay the trial for Brian Patrick Street until January Ninth, 2006.

The deadline for filing pre-trial motions has also been extended, to December 16th. Street’s trial was to have begun December Fifth, but in papers filed late last week, his attorney’s said they needed more time for investigation and to prepare for trial.

The order approving the continuance was the sixth time trial has been delayed since Street was charged last April, following an investigation into a March 31-st house fire in Griswold that killed two children.

Street’s 17-year stepdaughter Tracey says she set the fire in an attempt to harm Street, who she says sexually abused her. Street and Tracey’s mother Debbie Dyess escaped the home, but the teen’s 13-year old sister and six-year old nephew died in the blaze.
