Iowa State’s most important stat this season has been turnovers. When the Cyclones have protected the football they have won and when they haven’t they’ve lost. That will be important again this week as the Cyclones visit a Kansas team that has struggled with turnovers.

Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says his team is plus 13 and they want to end up as the number one team in the end. Quarterback Bret Meyer says he has learned take an occasional loss or throw the ball away instead of trying to force things. He says broken plays led to interceptions early in the season and he’s worked hard at not having those turnovers.

Meyer says any game you play, the team that has the most turnovers is probably going to lose. McCarney says the players will have a Thanksgiving dinner tonight and will then get much of Thursday off. They’ll have meetings in the morning and the ones who aren’t going on the trip will go home. The rest will go with the coaches if their homes are to far away to travel to. ISU is 7-3. Kansas is 5-5.
