Relatives of the Marine who died over the Thanksgiving weekend in Adair say he was trying to break-up a fight. Lance Corporal Brian Zimmerline stepped into the middle of a fight between 23-year old Beau Reha and his younger brother early Thursday morning, when he was shoved, fell to the concrete and hit his head. Zimmerline was taken to a Des Moines hospital where he died from his injuries, Friday.

Police charged Reha with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident. He’s currently being held in the Adair County jail. Reha and Zimmer line — who graduated together from the Adair-Casey High School in 2001, and were best friends — had grown apart since Zimmerline enlisted in the Marines three-years ago.

Relatives say Zimmerline served two-tours of duty in Iraq and had returned home from his last tour in June. He recently re-enlisted in the Corps and was stationed at Fort Des Moines.
