Wintry weather conditions are blamed for a deadly two-vehicle collision last night (Wednesday) in western Iowa. Around 7:15 P.M., the Iowa State Patrol and Ida County Sheriff’s authorities were notified of an accident involving a car and a semi on U.S. Highway 20 west of Holstein. Investigators say the car driven by 57-year-old Eileen Frye of Schleswig slid out of control on the snow and ice-covered roadway and entered the opposite lane where the vehicle was struck from behind by an oncoming semi. Frye was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say visibility at the time was limited because of the snow.
