A Cedar Falls I-T company says it has plans to expand and add a branch in another Iowa community. “Team Technologies” C-E-O Mark Kittrell says first he plans to double the size of its six-Million-dollar data center in Cedar Falls, then pick a town for the next site.

Right now he’s looking for funding and other “anchor tenants” that might locate a business in the same place. Kittrell says they’ll choose a site around the first of the year and break ground next spring. Team works with companies that offer services like Internet hosting, and also helps backup and safeguard data for other companies. Today the company has 23 employees, and Kittrell says that could grow to 65 jobs.

Besides his company’s own jobs, Kittrell says some 200 people work at others in that “technology park” in Cedar Falls, and he says his operation’s tendency to attract other information-technology or similar businesses is a “21st-Century infrastructure project.” The company was founded nearly fifty years as a maker of replacement television tubes. Today in addition to its “information solutions” business, Team has done projects like developing computer classes with Hawkeye Community College. Information Technology has been identified as one of three industries important to future economic development in Iowa. Governor Vilsack visited Team Technologies this week (Thursday).
