The season may be changing but the expectations don’t at North Mahaska where the boys basketball team opens tonight at home against B-G-M Brooklyn. The Warhawks are the defending class 1A state champs and the string of success continued when the football team won a state title just a couple of weeks ago.

Andy Pickering says they’ve had successful football, baseball and basketball teams and that makes the expectations higher. He says team will be shorthanded for a while as one kid came out late, another “had a poor choice” and another blew his knee. Pickering says with the short interval between the end of football and the start of basketball it will take some time for this team to come together. He says they’ve been working hard in practice and with a little work he thinks they’ll come together.
