An eastern Iowa teenager implicated in a Minnesota murder case has been ordered to be returned to Minnesota to face charges there. Seventeen-year-old Luis Alford and his brother, 22-year-old Jaramy Alford are accused of beating and stabbing to death 32-year-old Douglas Miller in Miller’s New Brighton, Minnesota home last month. The two allegedly set fire to Miller’s house to apparently cover up the crime. The Alfords then fled to relative’s homes in Van Horne in Northeast Iowa, where they were arrested the day after the crime. Luis Alford is charged with second-degree murder and was ordered returned to Minnesota following an extradition hearing yesterday in Benton County. Jaramy Alford is also charged with second-degree murder and has apparently claimed responsibility for the killing, contending it was in self-defense. He is being held in the Johnson County jail.
