As final exams wind down the Iowa State football team will resume preparations for the December 31st Houston Bowl against T-C-U. The Cyclone’s run defense has had an outstanding season but will get tested in the bowl game by the TCU ground game.I-S-U coach Dan McCarney says the Horned Frogs are athletic and very fast and have real good players at all positions. He says they have good coaches and are sound and physical.

The layoff since the end of the regular season should help the Iowa State ground game by allowing Stevie Hicks to heal after battling injury for most of the season. McCarney says they have to establish the running game and he says a healthy Hicks will help that running game. McCarney says Hicks has not been 100 percent since the Iowa game early in the season.

The Houston Bowl will be one of two places that Cyclones fans can enjoy warm weather dyring the holidays. The Iowa State basketball team will take part in the Rainbow Classic in Hawaii just prior to Christmas. McCarney says he’s heard from people who’re going to see the basketball team and will be back in time to see the football game. McCarney says, “Those are the ones who’re making a lot of money in life, I guess.”
