A Sioux City coach who led North High to the boys basketball tournament is now in trouble in two states. Tom Brazzell is the Activities Director at Sioux City North, where school officials say they didn’t know he’d been arrested for drunk driving in June in Pottawatamie County.

He was ticketed there again in October, a Sioux City TV station reports, after a deputy found his pick-up in a ditch off I-680 near Council Bluffs. Then on November 19, investigators say Brazzell’s pick-up crossed the center line on Highway 20 near Jackson Nebraska, hit an oncoming car and killed Morningside professor Tom Curry, seriously injuring Curry’s 14-year-old son who was also in the car.

Now the Nebraska Attorney general’s filed felony charges of drunk driving and motor vehicle homicide against the 61-year-old Brazzell, who lives in South Sioux City.
