Authorities are investigating a robbery at a Clear Lake hotel early this morning, saying it could be connected to another robbery in central Iowa. At 5:35, Clear Lake police were called to the Americ-Inn at 1406 North 25th Street, where the female night attendant says two black males in hooded sweatshirts entered the motel, with one of them using a weapon to assault her, and the suspects taking an undetermined amount of money from the cash drawer. Clear Lake police believe that the same suspects were also involved in the robbery of the Super 8 in Story City. A Story City police department spokesman says they were called to the Super 8 at about 3:50 this morning after a male employee was assaulted by two men wearing ski masks who also took an undetermined amount of cash. In both cases, the suspects fled in an older full-sized dark-colored vehicle heading onto Interstate 35.
