Iowa native dies in Afghanistan

Remsen native was killed in a missile attack in eastern Afghanistan Wednesday. U.S. Army Reserve Sergeant Tobias “Toby” Meister of Oklahoma City died after the missile struck an armored vehicle. He was 30 years old. The Reverend Jon Meredith of LeMars says Meister’s family was told the soldier had been out fighting for a couple of days when the missile attack occurred. A civilian and two other soldiers were injured. Meister had been in Afghanistan since the summer as part of the 486th Civil Affairs Detachment in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
