A woman who was wanted for the murder of a northeast Iowa girl last fall has been arrested in Illinois. 28-year-old Claricia Wilmer, the final suspect in a fatal stabbing incident in early September, was arrested in Chicago on Tuesday. Wilmer evaded authorities for four months before she was arrested. The victim was 17-year-old April Johnson, who was six months pregnant at the time. On the night of the stabbing, Dubuque police took Wilmer into custody but could not hold her because of a lack of evidence.

The other suspects, 14-year-olds Alberta Wilmer and Jazmin Wade along with 22-year-old Andrea Alsup have all pleaded guilty to lesser charges. Possible charges of unconsenual termination of a pregnancy are pending against Wilmer for the death of Johnson’s baby. Claricia Wilmer could be back in Dubuque on Friday.
