An assistant Buena Vista County Attorney has been fired and replaced after hosting a teenage booze party at his house. David Patton was terminated from the part-time position by county attorney Phil Havens, who said Patton used “poor judgment.”

During a party at Patton’s home in November, 38 minors were accused of drinking alcohol. Patten was charged with keeping a disorderly house. Patton served as assistant county attorney for the past ten years and is a former member of the Storm Lake city council. Tuesday, the Buena Vista County Supervisors approved hiring Meghann Whitmer of Holstein to replace Patten.
