The driver of a car involved in a fatal car crash December 26th is now been charged with vehicular homicide. Twenty-one-year-old Lilly Wilkerson of Clinton appeared in Clinton County District Court on Wednesday. Wilkerson is accused of driving a car as it crossed the center line on a curve on a city street and slid through a fence and into yard an apartment building.

A passenger in the car, 24 year old Jesse Aaron Van Scoyoc, also of Clinton, was killed in the crash. He died of what was termed blunt force trauma. Police investigators say they discovered beer bottles from the car at the crash scene and beer bottles inside the car.

According to court statements, Wilkerson admitted that she had been drinking from about 8:30 p.m. on the 25th until the early morning on the 26th and was tipsy. She was released from custody under the supervision of the Department of Corrections and an electronic monitoring system. Homicide by vehicle is a Class B felony, punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison.
