The Floyd County supervisors have recommended state regulators not approve an application for a big livestock confinement in north-central Iowa. Noting there are already tens of thousands of hogs being raised in the area, the supervisors unanimously voted to recommend the Department of Natural Resources deny the application by
Kent Krause of Iowa Falls, who wants to build a facility to raise 45-hundred hogs near Colwell.

All the residents who came to a public hearing spoke against the proposed operation, though the three supervisors say their recommendation may not affect the final decision which rests with the D-N-R.
