A new exhibit opens tomorrow (Tuesday) at the State Historical Museum in Des Moines to showcase dozens of Iowa’s top attractions. It’s called “The Road to Iowa’s Great Places” and features all of the near-150 locations that took part in the state’s Great Places promotion last year.

Museum spokesman Jeff Morgan says the exhibit includes many of Iowa’s cultural attractions, historic sites and recreational venues. He says the exhibit includes materials from all 146 participating places in the program to give Iowans a chance to see everything involved in the process, the materials, the invitations and the offer presentations. Morgan says the many applicants were narrowed down to 73 for presentations, from which three winners were eventually chosen.

The three initial winners or pilot places — Clinton, Coon Rapids and Sioux City — are featured prominently in the exhibit, displaying how they’ll work with a host of state agencies to make visions for future community successes become reality. For more information, surf to “www.iowagreatplaces.gov”.
