The Iowa Hawkeyes roared out to a 21-point first half lead and never looked back in an 80-48 win over Northwestern Sunday in Big Ten women’s basketball action. Freshman Megan Skouby led the Hawkeyes with 18 points and Crstyal Smith added 13 as the Hawkeyes improved to 4-2 in the Big Ten and 11-6 overall.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says they team played with emotion the whole game which she says is hard when you’ve been on the road for three games. Bluder says they shot 70-percent from the three-point line, which is better than Northwestern shot from the free-throw line.

It completes a busy week for the Hawkeyes who beat ninth ranked Michigan State and lost to number eight Ohio State. Bluder says the team is tired and ready for a day off, as she says they haven’t had a true day off for two weeks. Iowa plays at Wisconsin Thursday.
