A Marshalltown man has been ruled “not guilty” by reason of insanity for mailing rat poison and threatening to blow up an F-B-I office. Anana Gundo Nariboli was charged last year with threatening to use an explosive, mailing threatening communications, and obstructing the use of mail.

Earlier this month, A U.S. district judge ordered that Nariboli be committed to a mental institution. He’d been in custody since June when the F-B-I arrested him at his Marshalltown home. A federal complaint alleges in February, Nariboli mailed an envelope to Dow Chemical Company of Milwaukee, threatening to blow up an F-B-I office. He also allegedly mailed an envelope containing a powdered substance to the Iowa State University admissions office.

Court records show Nariboli confessed to the crimes and showed agents what he put in the letters, a household cleaner Comet and the rat poison Decon.
