A material witness in the murder case of a Waterloo man has agreed to testify against his nephew. Floyd County Attorney Marilyn Dettmer yesterday announced that the state had reached an agreement with material witness Charles Gallmeyer to testify against James Dean Raymond, in the October murder of Jesse Patchin. One of the conditions of the agreement provided for the release of Gallmeyer from the Floyd County Jail pending the trial, but Gallmeyer will be under the direct supervision of the Second Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.

Court documents accuse Raymond of killing Patchin at a mobile home a few miles west of Nashua on October 1st after the two argued about a drug transaction. Last Friday, authorities announced they believed they found the body of Patchin in a rural area of Floyd County near Greene. While Dettmer would not confirm whether Gallmeyer assisted authorities in locating Patchin’s body, court documents show Gallmeyer was offered a plea agreement in December in exchange for his testimony and help in locating the body of Patchin.
