For the second time in a week U-N-I and Drake collide, this time in the Knapp Center. The Panthers have won eight of nine and stand 18-3 overall, 8-2 in the Valley. They beat Drake in the first meeting 91-72 in the dome but coach Greg McDermott wants to see a better effort defensively.

He says they talked about limiting their easy baskets and keeping them off the free throw line, but Drakes first points were three baskets and four free throws. He says what they talked about wasn’t happening and he says that was a theme throughout the game. McDermott says they’ll take those things from the first game.

Bulldog coach Tom Davis says U-N-I dominated all phases in the first meeting. He says when his team tried to make a run and get something going, U-N-I would shut them down in a hurry. Drake is 4-6 in the Valley and 11-10 overall.
