The 26th annual University of Okoboji Winter Games are underway in northwest Iowa, without the cooperation of Mother Nature. The warm temperatures and lack of good ice forced dozens of location changes for the activities. Most of the events are being pulled from Lake Okoboji to land based sites.

The softball tournament is moving from Smith’s Bay to at a softball complex in Milford. The hockey shoot out is moving to the Bedell Family Y-M-C-A. The golf long drive contest, A-T-V challenge and children’s ice fishing have been canceled. Broomball has been moved off the ice to the Cenla campground in Spirit Lake. Flag football is the one event that will go on as planned on East Lake Okoboji. Shuttle buses will help folks get around the U of O campus. Organizers are saying the show must go on.
