The Iowa Hawkeyes open the week as part of a four-way tie for first in the Big Ten race. The Hawkeyes improved to 5-2 in league play and won their 13th consecutive home game with a 67-62 win over number-16 Ohio State on Saturday night.

Senior forward Greg Brunner who had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Hawkeyes says it’s an amazing feeling, and he says they’ll enjoy it a short time before preparing for the next game. Iowa will next visit Purdue on Wednesday night. Brunner says the league is tough all the way through, so he says they’ll have to be ready.

Adam Haluska led Iowa with 18-points but like they have all season the Hawkeyes won it with defense by holding the Buckeyes off in the waning moments. Iowa coach Steve Alford says his team “fought like crazy”. Alford says their defense made the difference in the two big wins, this one and the one before over Indiana.

The Hawkeyes are 16-5 overall and now have five victories against teams in the top 25. Alford says the victories against the ranked teams proves what they can do. He says they don’t have any bad loses on their schedule and now head into the stretch run of February.
