It’s a sweet deal for southern Iowa as jobs are being transferred to Creston later this year from a candy-making company in the Chicago area. Farley’s and Sathers Candy Company of Minnesota has announced plans to conolidate its Des Plaines, Illinois, manufacturing operations into the local Creston manufacturing facility. Its anticipated the last day of production at the Des Plaines facility will be at the end of August. President of Farley’s and Sathers Dennis Nemeth says the Des Plaines facility cannot be expanded and does not have the capacity to produce the company’s requirements. The Creston facility is larger and will have the capacity and flexibility to meet the manufacturing needs into the future. Nemeth also says severance packages will be offered and the company will work with the state of Illinois regarding the outplacement services for the Des Plaines employees. It’s not known how many employees this will have an impact on as this information was released late Wednesday afternoon.
