The Iowa Hawkeye women finished the regular season with sole possession of fifth in the Big Ten race after a 78-70 win over Indiana on Sunday. The Hawkeyes used a big free throw advantage to close out the conference race with a 10-6 record. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says they only shot five free throws in the last game and hit three, but this time they shot 36 free throws to Indiana’s 19.

Bluder feels good about her teams chances of making the NCAA Tournament. The Hawks are open the Big Ten Tournament Friday against Michigan State. She says at 17-10 and fifth in the Big Ten, that should be a good sign. Bluder says they could make a louder message by beating Michigan State.

It has been an injury plagued year for the Hawkeyes and Bluder says the freshman class has come through. She says every freshman wants an opportunity and she says they’ve made the most of the opportunities.
