A movie made in Forest City has won a prestigious international award. The drama, “The Journey Tree” was filmed in Forest City last August using all local talent and crew. The movie premiered in October and has won the “Telly Award.” Movie producer Scott Thompson says the Telly Awards are given for all types of films.

Thompson says only the top 12-percent of entries win a silver or bronze award, and “The Journey Tree” won the bronze. He says the silver category means you’re in the top seven-percent, and the bronze means you’re in the top 10 percent. Thompson says anyone involved in the project can receive their own statue.

Thompson says the statuettes are not cheap, they cost 175 dollars. Thompson says the statues may also appear a little familiar to some people, as they’ve made by the same company that makes the Oscar and Emmy awards.
