The boys state basketball tournament resumed this afternoon with the opening round in class 2A. Bondurant-Farrar outscored North Butler 11-0 to start the fourth quarter and went on to win 49-37.

Bondurant-Farrar’s Kerwin Dunham had a game high 27 points and says rebounding was the key in the second half. Dunham says North Butler got a lot of put-backs in the first half, but they were able to shut them down in the second half.

Bondurant-Farrar coach Chad Carlson says a third quarter surge is nothing new for his team. He says they’ve been a third quarter team all year and that might be due to their senior leadership.

It was a struggle for North Butler in the second half. The Bearcats made in six of 20 shots and tallied 14 points after halftime.

Bearcats coach Kurt Hempen says you have to credit Bondurant and says he was happy with his team’s effort. He says they played pretty strong defense and were only down four points early in the fourth quarter and had a chance to win.
