When one of your goals for spring practice is to find a backup tight end, then you must feel good about your prospects on offense. That’s the situation for UNI coach Mark Farley who has a lot of experience back from last year’s team that made it all the way to the one-double-A championship.

One exception is at running back where Terrance Freeney and David Horne must be replaced. Corey Lewis and Derrick Law are the guys being looked at this spring, and Farley says they have to stay healthy so they can be evaluated.

Eric Sanders returns for his junior season at quarterback and Farley wants to have a quality backup going into next season. Farley says he thinks they have a backup on campus, it just depends on who it is. Farley says they know what Sanders can do, they just need to find out what the three potential backups can do.

Farley says the receiving corps will lack numbers this spring. Farley says they have so many new guys coming in that they’ll have to find out more about the receivers this summer and fall. The Panthers will have an intrasquad game on April 22nd.
