Iowa State has already locked up the Hy-Vee CyHawk series for this year but the Cyclone softball team will try to add to the winning margin in a matchup against Iowa on Tuesday afternoon in Ames. I-S-U coach Stacey Gemeinhardt says every school wants to be the top school in the state, so beating your in-state rival is important.

The Cyclones are 15-15 overall after dropping a pair of games over the weekend to top ranked Texas. Iowa is 20-14 and the Hawkeyes had their seven game win streak snapped on Sunday when they got swept at Northwestern. Gemeinhardt says they’re a good team with a great tradition. The Cyclones also have an in-state game on Wednesday when they visit UNI.
