A Davenport businessman says he was mistakenly targeted by the city’s red-light enforcement system that automatically sends a ticket to violators caught on camera. Kevin Keck is an official with Great River Bank who says he was driving a company car at the time.

Back in February he says he got “one of your photo speeding tickets.” He says the problem is, the photo on the ticket shows an Illinois license plate. Keck spoke to Davenport city aldermen at their meeting this week and said he talked to a police officer about the mistake.

The officer told him they’d contact the company that issued the ticket and “get it taken off.” Keck says he hopes the city council’s concerned “that they’re issuing tickets not knowing what an Iowa license plate looks like.”

Local law-enforcement agencies say the automated systems can help target problems like speeding and running red lights at locations where those violations are a big problem and it’s not possible to have officers patrol there all the time.
