Chickasaw County authorities say an incident involving an infant that was underwater in a bathtub for a time will not result in charges being filed. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s office last Tuesday started investigating the case, in which six-month-old Riannah King of Lawler was taken to Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton by ambulance after King was reportedly underwater in the tub and then experienced breathing problems, that after her mother stepped away from the tub for a second to get a towel.

The infant was then taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, and was released from the hospital on Wednesday. Deputies on Wednesday executed a search warrant at the home of the parents of the baby. Authorities have cleared 18-year-old Kelly King and 18-year-old Anthony Thompson. The Iowa Department of Human Services was also involved in the investigation.
