State and county authorities are investigating the deaths of over 150-head of cattle on a western Iowa farm. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Adair County Sheriff’s office are conducting an investigation into the death of cattle on a farm owned by Doug Wedemeyer.

Wedemeyer says he’s been told the cattle on his feedlot south of Interstate 80 near Casey, may have been poisoned. He says the cattle apparently died by ingesting some type of insecticide that was mixed into their feed.

An employee of the feedlot discovered the gruesome scene Sunday morning. The animals had a combined market valued of up to 150-thousand dollars.
