While more and more Iowans are filing their state taxes electronically, there’s one year left of the old telephone filing system. Renee Mulvey of the Iowa Department of Revenue says it’s an option for those who qualify. She says you gather up all the information and dial an 800 number and you can file your Iowa taxes by punching in numbers through “Telefile.”

Mulvey says you may already have the instructions for telefiling. She says you can check your tax booklet, or you can check the Revenue Department’s website. Mulvey says fewer and fewer people have been phoning in their taxes. Mulvee says the telefile is down significantly this, and she says that’s probably because the I-R-S has discontinued their Telefile. For more information on telefile, surf to: www.state.ia.us/tax.
