The U-N-I football team closed out spring drills with an intrasquad game that was dominated by defense. Two teams were drafted to get a competitive game and that’s what the fans saw.

The white team edged the purple squad 7-0. Coach Mark Farley says he’s pleased with the scrimmage, and says if they had let the defense hit the quarterbacks, it would have made a difference.

Much of the focus this spring has been on finding a back-up to junior Eric Sanders at quarterback. Farley says there isn’t a frontrunner among the three right now and he says the issue will be decided over the summer.

The tight ends got a lot of action and Farley says they needed it. He says they need to find out more about their tight ends and see how they’re doing in game situations as they head into the fall.
