Officials with the Iowa Games have a goal of 20-thousand competitors for this months summer games in Ames. It is the 20th anniversary of the Iowa Games and executive director Jim Halihan says it is difficult to predict whether they will break the 20-thousand in part because of the large number of sports that offer on-site registration.

The Iowa Games will offer five new sports this year. Like in the previous years, the competition will be held over two weekends and Halihan says that has allowed them to free up space by splitting up youth and adult soccer. The Iowa Games are July 13th through the 16th and the 21st through the 23rd.
