A near-12-hour ordeal is over and a missing northern Iowa girl was found about 8:45 this morning — alive and well. Three-year-old Allie Schutjer of rural Titonka has been found okay by searchers after wandering off from the family campfire and sleeping under a cornstalk with the family dog.

The Schutjer farm is located in rural Titonka, near the Hancock County line. Last night during the 9 P.M. hour, Allie turned up missing along with a border collie.

Some 100 people searched last night including a plane that utilized thermal imaging in trying to find the girl in a lot of shoulder-high cornfields surrounding the Schutjer Farm.

Allie was found by three people: Wendell Christensen Junior, a neighbor; Gary Ukeken, a fire chief at nearby Titonka, and Cory Rash of Bancroft. A passing A-T-V awakened the dog first, then the child, and both were okay.
