Two Waterloo men have been sentenced to prison on federal charges related to a deadly shooting involving a drug robbery at a Waterloo business. Twenty-six-year-old Eric Sallis was sentenced this week to over 11 years in prison, while 35-year-old Charles Watson was sentence to over 25 years in prison.

Sallis and Watson had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine with one thousand feet of a protected location and conspiracy to possess a firearm in a crime of violence and drug trafficking crime. The two were involved in a May 2000 incident in which they stole cocaine at the Wildside Creations in Waterloo, which is located near Highland Square Park, a public playground.

During the incident, four people were shot, one of the victims, Thomas Abril, died in the shooting. Sallis was sentenced in federal court to 136 months in prison, while Watson got a 305 month sentence.
