Iowa and Buena Vista will meet in a men’s college basketball exhibition game November tenth in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 25-9 season in which they won the Big Ten Conference post-season tournament while Buena Vista in the N-C-A-A division three tournament the past five years.

B.V. coach Brian Van Haaften says his players are thrilled with the opportunity, and says every player grows up watching the Hawkeyes and Cyclones and all had the dream of playing division one basketball. He says this is their chance to play in Carver-Hawkeye arena.

These types of opportunities opened up for division three programs after the N-C-A-A changed its rules regarding exhibition games a few years ago. Van Haaften says it is a great way to build bonds among all the universities in Iowa. Van Haaften says Iowa and B.V. host camps together and the coaching staffs know each other.

Van Haaften says it will be a great test for his team to get ready for the season. He says they’re looking for improvement at this time, and he says this game will tell them where they are.
