A western Iowa man is jailed on sexual assault charges involving a young relative. Eighteen-year old Kenneth Cline, of Avoca, was taken into custody earlier this week for allegedly assaulting a seven-year-old girl, who Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says was the man’s niece.

Danker says they received a call Tuesday evening from the girl’s mother after she picked her daughter and another child up from her brother-in-law’s home. The girl told her mother that Cline — who was babysitting the children — has assaulted them. After an investigation, the sheriff’s office charged Cline with one count of sexual abuse in the second-degree.

Cline appeared before the magistrate and is currently being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail. A charge of Sexual Abuse in the second is a Class-B felony, punishable by a minimum of three-years, or a maximum of 25-years in jail, upon conviction.
