The Iowa Department of Public Safety says a missing Northwood girl has been found and is safe in Minnesota.

A missing child alert was issued for 11-year-old Catie Jean Krauth this morning. Steve Bogle assistant director of the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, says Krauth was taken from her home in Northwood around 1:43 A.M. in a White Mercury Marquee four-door car.

As the investigation progressed, investigators determined Catie Krauth was located safe with friends of Barb Krauth in Austin, Minnesota and is currently in the custody of Agents of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

A news release from the Iowa D-C-I says at this time in the investigation, it appears Barb Krauth made an erroneous report to law enforcement. The investigation continues and investigators will consult with the Worth County Attorney to determine if criminal charges against Barb Krauth are warranted.
