Authorities in Pottawattamie County have charged a Council Bluffs man with first-degree murder in the death of his wife.

Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber says the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force took Stanley Alan Tribble, of Council Bluffs, into custody without incident this morning at his place of business in Omaha, Nebraska. Tribble is charged in connection with the death of his wife, 35-year-old Tracy Gostomski-Tribble.

The woman disappeared a little over three months ago. Her body was found floating in the Missouri River and recent autopsy results show she had suffered blows to the head and died of asphyxiation, most likely by drowning. If Tribble waives extradition, he’ll be taken to the Pottawatamie County jail and make an initial appearance in Pottawattamie County District Court. If he fights extradition, Wilber says he will begin proceedings to obtain a Governor’s warrant to bring him back to Iowa.

If convicted of the charge, Stan Tribble would spend the rest of his life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
