A new era begins for Upper Iowa football as the program gets set for its first season as a member of the Northern Sun Conference.

The Peacocks finished 3-8 last year in Mike Knoll’s first season as coach and he looks for an improved defense this fall. The defense includes junior lineman Adam Kirskey who has been tabbed as a Division II pre-season All-American. Kirskey is a native of Charles City.

Chris Speir, a defensive lineman from Sumner, says competing against theor own offense in practice will get them ready for the season. Upper Iowa has a new offensive coordinator. Ben Morie spent last season at Bemidji State and Knoll feels he will be a perfect fit for the skill players.

There are only four starters back on offense and Knoll is counting on a talented group of running backs to lead the way. Upper Iowa opens the season August 31st with a visit to Wayne State of Nebraska.
