Iowa’s offensive line features a mix of veterans and newcomers as the Hawkeyes prepare for the upcoming football season. Three of the projected starters are veterans, including senior left guard Mike Jones who says developing chemistry is a key part of fall camp.

Jones says once they got the right lineup going last year, things started working well. Jones says that’s the same thing they’re looking to do this year. As a senior he would like to end his Iowa career with a great season. Jones says to do that, you have to earn it by preparing in the preseason and working hard.

Two key spots on the offensive line will be anchored by young players. Redshirt freshman Rafael Eubanks is the projected starter at center and the left tackle spot will be anchored by sophomore Dace Richardson, who got some experience last year as a true freshman. Richardson says playing with the older guys last season really helped him fit into the group and he says the things he learned last year will make this team better.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz likes the potential of the offensive line. Ferentz says the linemen have worked hard and he says he feels the younger guys are very capable of doing the job. The Hawks open the season September second at home against Montana.
