Many Iowa parents like to buy their kids books for pleasure reading through a long-running school-based program. Judy Newman, president of Scholastic Book Clubs, encourages moms and dads to test out the familiar program that’s now available on the Internet, called Clubs Ordering Online or “COOL.”

Newman says “Instead of having to remember to get that order form and the check and the dollars all ready along with the lunch and the knapsack, parents can go on-line and place their order with their credit card and that on-line order connects up to the teacher’s on-line order and everything else is just the same.

The books arrive in the classroom.” She says there’s a bonus system too that can help the teachers out. Newman says “For every book club order, teachers earn bonus points and bonus points enable teachers to get free books and classroom materials for their classrooms.” For more information, surf to “www.Scholastic.com/COOL”.
