The Briar Cliff football program has made continuous strides during its first three years. After a winless campaign in 2003 in its first year of varsity football the chargers went 3-7 in 2004 and last year finished 4-7.

Coach Dick Strittmatter hopes for more progress this season as he says they feel they can take another step. Since the first season Strittmatter has concentrated on defense to make the Chargers competitive. He says that continues to be a strength and the offense is coming along.

Three candidates are battling to become the new quarterback. That includes their highest profile recruit, J.D. Lindsay, who played high school football last year in Stuttgart, Germany. Briar Cliff opens September second at Nebraska Wesleyan.
