Witnesses say a bar fight in Des Moines early this morning (Monday) led to fatal gunfire. Police Sergeant Todd Dykstra says dispatchers got a call just before 2 A.M. that someone had been gunned down outside an auto parts store that’s next door to a tavern.

Dykstra says “When officers arrived, they found Tony Galvan shot in the Auto Zone parking lot. He was transported by fire rescue to a local hospital where he later died.” Galvan was 31 and from Des Moines.

Dykstra says it’s still unclear who shot Galvan and why. He says “Currently, the investigators are interviewing witnesses. Right now, we have not identified any suspects however, hopefully after these interviews, we’ll have a little better handle on this.”

Dykstra says Galvan was apparently involved in a bar fight prior to the shooting. He says there was an altercation at the Southport Bar, which is right next to the Auto Zone parking lot. Galvan was shot multiple times in the midsection.
