Iowans will have three opportunities to make a side-by-side comparison of the two major party candidates for governor. It looks like all three debates will be held in October.

Democrat Chet Culver’s campaign issued a statement Monday saying Culver had accepted invitations to appear at a debate in Cedar Rapids on October 2nd; at an October 16th debate in Davenport and an October 21st debate in suburban Des Moines.

Culver’s camp also suggested the two Lieutenant Governor candidates have debates in Sioux City and Ottumwa.

Republican Jim Nussle had issued a statement a few weeks ago saying he had accepted invitations to meet Culver face-to-face in eight televised debates. Nussle’s camp quickly called Culver’s agreement to just three three debates in Davenport, Cedar Rapids and Johnston a “snub” of western Iowa.
